Outraged Times 10

If I hear "scandal" one more time when it comes to the IRS story I'm going to...oh never mind. I've waited for more of the facts to emerge and there is no question the IRS badly mismanaged the response. And the latest news about planting a question at a briefing? It's so...bush league. But I can understand their panic - they HAD to know every shark in the water was going to take a bite out of the ass of the nation's most famous government villain. And while Nate Silver didn't exactly clear it up for me, he talked about it in terms of numbers which is the only way this story should be looked at. And he did spank Peggy Noonan several times - and who doesn't love a good spanking?

But here's the question I'm waiting for: given the Tea Party cults' stated purpose, seen over and over on all their websites, and the flood of "Tea Party" candidates elected since 2010, how do these organization qualify as social welfare groups any way? And oh yeah, their entire philosophical premise is that government is too big and citizens are over-taxed. They are a political party looking for a tax loophole. Why is that so hard for everyone to say? And the speculation that somehow the IRS "targetting conspiracy" adversely affected elections? Doesn't that prove that these are not social welfare groups at all and are active political organizations whose primary purpose is to elect candidates and change legislative policy?

The tax dodge is beyond most people's comprehension I guess. But it's a no-brainer from this outraged citizen. The IRS was doing its job - a job Congress and the Supreme Court forced on them with campaign finance loopholes and rulings for gawd's sake.

This has all the earmarks of replacing the birther conspiracy as a way to de-legitimize Obama's presidency. And the talking heads have got the script down pat - worse than Watergate and Iran-Contra? That line leaves me speechless - but we'll hear it over and over and over again during tomorrow's morning programs. Mark my word.
